Georgia Simmerling
Olympic Athlete and Founder of AG Sports Inc.
In 2021, Georgia Simmerling qualified for her fourth Olympic Games, representing Canada at the Tokyo Summer Olympics. She had already become the only Canadian athlete to have ever competed in three different Olympic Games in three different sports: alpine skiing, ski cross, and track cycling. Ready for retirement from competition but not from the world of sports, she spent six months researching the industry to decide on her next steps. Her findings? Women athletes were lacking representation, they experienced pay disparities, and there was an overall lack of investment in women in sports.
Intent on being part of the solution, in September 2021 Georgia entered the world of entrepreneurship and launched her own sports and marketing agency, AG Sports — an agency for women, by women. Within 6 weeks of launch, she had signed 10 Canadian women athletes, from both summer and winter sports, including World Champions, World Record Holders, Olympic Champions, and Olympic medalists. Through AG Sports, Georgia’s goal is to increase the visibility of Canadian women-identified athletes nationally and globally and to demonstrate to brands and corporations the incredible opportunities available through investing in women’s sports.
